Standing forefront in this image is four unidentified men posing near a coal mine shaft. A key to Lethbridge’s initial boom, coal mines generated work for many young men and brought people to the city. Black Diamond features “Galt Coal” which was a leader in the coal mining industry and helped to forge Lethbridge into the city we enjoy today.
Black Diamond is one of three in a series of murals by Trotter that acknowledge the past of Lethbridge through his rendering of historical photographs.
Black Diamond can be found at the top of the outer north wall of 427 5 St S, Lethbridge. Coordinates: 49.69332068923117, -112.83983312606061
