Buck combines the approaches of two artists. Hagan brings a strong sense of colour and a background in abstraction. Armstrong has a similar attraction to vibrant colours and a love of local wildlife. In this work, you see the use of organic, round and oval stone shapes in the background coupled with a Warhol-esque mule deer in the foreground. The colours are drawn directly from a prairie sunset palette and the buck represents the diverse range of urban wildlife found throughout Lethbridge. Overall, Buck is a celebration of our landscape and that wildlife.
