The design for the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame honours the inductees (past, present and future) and is intended to inspire the visiting youth and community members to appreciate and participate in sport and aspire to become inductees themselves. From the sports and games of the traditional Blackfoot people of the region to the current team rosters and community champions, there are diverse and rich stories of Lethbridge sport to be told.
The design offers a multi-faceted read. The work can be taken in as a whole during the brief time it takes a person to pass through but also offers meaningful interactions for the visitor who would like to engage with it more slowly and closely. The first floor installation recognizes the inductees past and present; the second floor installation explores notable individuals, teams, sports and local stories.
From leisure to professional, the design expresses the history of sport in Lethbridge and Southern Alberta by revealing the full scope and potential of sporting experience.
